Millions of women and girls walk over six kilometres a day in search of food, water and firewood. This leaves little time for school, accessing health services and earning an income.

I’m walking 10,000 steps per day from Monday 12 March to Sunday 18 March 2012 as part of CARE’s Walk In Her Shoes challenge.

Walk In Her Shoes - The Body Shop for CARE Australia

CARE is a non-religious and non-political charity with a special focus on working with women and girls to create sustainable outcomes in poor communities.

In 2011, CARE assisted 122 million people across 84 countries through 1015 poverty-fighting projects. CARE Australia manages programs in over 20 countries in South-East Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
